Miranda Satterthwaite is an experienced educator and the driving force behind the Aotearoa Aerospace Academy, creating immersive aerospace and STEM learning experiences for young people across New Zealand.
A certified Rocket Lab Space Educator, Miranda has undertaken professional development and educational experiences in New Zealand and the United States, including programmes and visits connected with major space and aerospace organisations. She has also flown aboard NASA’s SOFIA airborne observatory and participated in educational and observational aviation experiences focused on astronomy and the near-space environment.
Through the Aotearoa Aerospace Academy, Miranda brings together educators, scientists, engineers and industry specialists to give students opportunities to explore aerospace through practical experiences. Her programmes combine science, engineering, teamwork and problem-solving, helping students see the range of pathways available within New Zealand’s growing aerospace sector.
Miranda’s particular strength is connecting people and opportunities: building partnerships between education and industry and turning them into experiences that encourage young people to imagine themselves as part of the future of aerospace in Aotearoa.
